Getting emails responses to my home rental ads from other countries?

I put an ad on craig's list for a roomate, and i'm getting responses form people who claim to be born here but stay out of the country(south africa is common) and want to send me rent money without even meeting me or seeing my place. The women actually send their measurements. Very strange, can someone clue me in??Getting emails responses to my home rental ads from other countries?
It's a scam-- the ';africa' part is the biggest red flag. Most of these originate in Nigeria.





They'll send you a money order, but usually for more than you're asking, and ask you to send a certain amount back to them. They'll make up a reason why.





You'll deposit the money order and send them what they want, but a few days later its reversed out of your account when the money order comes back fraudulant and you're out of the money you sent them.

They send you rent money, more than the amount you requested (usually a fake money order) and you send them cash back.
